Who We Are

About Dynamyx Gymnastics

Dynamyx Gymnastics Club has been part of the St. Albert community since 1993. Founded by a group of parents who wanted to create more opportunities for local gymnasts, the club has grown over more than three decades while continuing to focus on quality instruction, positive experiences, and opportunities for athletes of different ages and abilities.

Today, Dynamyx offers recreational, competitive, and specialized gymnastics programming, along with camps, events, and community activities. Across every program, our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment where participants of different ages and abilities can develop skills, confidence, strength, and a lifelong appreciation for active, healthy living.

MISSION

To provide quality gymnastics instruction for people of all ages and abilities, with an emphasis on fun, fitness, safety, and progressive development at every level.

VISION

To empower individuals to reach their full potential and develop a lifelong commitment to active, healthy living through gymnastics.

Where Our Story Began

Our Founder: Kim Vig

Dynamyx Gymnastics Club was founded in 1993 by Ms. Kim Vig, whose determination to preserve an opportunity for her own children would ultimately create opportunities for generations of gymnasts in St. Albert.

The idea for Dynamyx began when Ortona Gymnastics Club closed its satellite location in St. Albert. At the time, the city had a population of approximately 40,000 and was left with only one active gymnastics club. Kim’s daughters had already begun their pre-competitive training and suddenly found themselves without an opportunity to continue along the competitive pathway.

Rather than accept that loss of opportunity, Kim took action. With the support of her husband, Dennis, and using their own personal funds, they helped establish Dynamyx Gymnastics in its first location. During its first year of operation, the club welcomed approximately 80 registered gymnasts with a coaching staff of four.

Kim remained deeply involved with Dynamyx and became an essential part of the club’s development and success. Her passion for gymnastics and her commitment to the athletes and families of St. Albert led her to devote countless hours to building the organization. Under that foundation, Dynamyx continued to grow, eventually outgrowing two locations. By the time of Kim’s passing, the club had grown to more than 1,000 registered members and supported competitive teams in both Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

The growth she helped begin did not stop there. As Dynamyx continued to expand, the organization began searching for a fourth and larger home. That search led to our current 25,000-square-foot facility, which has been home to Dynamyx since 2020.

The move came at an extraordinarily difficult time, coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic. During our first year in the new facility, restrictions prevented consistent in-person programming. Dynamyx adapted through months of virtual classes and one-to-one training sessions while regular programs, special events, and birthday parties were disrupted. Despite this, the club continued finding ways to support its athletes and families.

That resilience reflects the spirit on which Dynamyx was founded.

From approximately 80 gymnasts in its first year to more than 1,500 athletes served annually today, Dynamyx has grown considerably, but the purpose behind the club remains closely connected to Kim’s original vision: creating opportunities for athletes and ensuring that children in St. Albert have a place to pursue gymnastics at whatever level their journey may take them.

Kim Vig’s legacy remains at the heart of Dynamyx Gymnastics Club, reflected in the perseverance, dedication, and growth that continue to shape our athletes, coaches, and gymnastics community today.
